Your 4x4 excursion begins at around 9.30 am at your accommodation. You will be met by an experienced and friendly guide who will accompany you throughout the adventure.

The first stop on your journey is the desert dunes of Viana, a spectacular place that will transport you to a world of golden sand as far as the eye can see. You can explore the dunes on foot, take incredible photos and feel the warm breeze.

Afterwards, you will continue to Rabil, a charming village where you can visit a local artisan's workshop to discover how traditional Cape Verdean crafts are made. 

You can also enjoy a delicious lunch of local dishes in a typical restaurant. After lunch, return to your hotel to rest.

From Mindelo, explore Monte Verde, the highest point on the island, offering panoramic views of the city and surrounding islands. 

Then descend and continue to Baia das Gatas, Cat Shark Bay, a favourite destination for Cape Verdeans. Continue along the magnificent Praia Grande beach to Calhau, a small fishing village. 

You can take a short hike (45 minutes) around an ancient volcano on the seafront, where you will discover frozen rocks, blowholes and much more. Return to Mindelo via the central oasis of Calhau.

After breakfast, we will depart from the Calhau oasis, where we will begin our tour of the lunar desert landscapes of this island, where it rarely rains. Mineral expanses, small oases, sandy beaches lined with caves and volcanoes are all part of the itinerary for this short day, all in front of the desert island of Santa Luzia. At the end of the day, return to the hotel in Mindelo.

After breakfast, our driver will take you to the pier at 8 a.m., where you will board the boat to the island of Santo Antao for an hour-long trip. 

When you arrive at the Porto Novo pier, our driver and local guide will pick you up and take you to explore the semi-desert part of the island. 

We begin with a challenging climb to Col de Forkinha, which offers spectacular panoramic views of Ribeira das Patas, surrounded by volcanic rock formations that reveal the island's geological power.

After a break to enjoy the scenery, we begin the descent to Ribeira das Patas, crossing traditional paths and rural communities. From there, we continue walking until we reach the small, welcoming village where we will spend the night, surrounded by the tranquillity of the mountains and local hospitality.

From Cha de Igreja, you will follow a beautiful coastal path carved into the mountains. You will pass through the villages of Formiguinhas, Corvo and Fontainhas, a famous village on top of a hill. 

Lunch will be organised with a family from the village of Formiguinhas, and you will continue on to Ponta do Sol, a pretty fishing village.

Early morning transfer (15 min) to Ribeira da Torre, a deep volcanic valley surrounded by cliffs and peaks, where we will spend the day discovering rural life and crops. 

The trail and irrigation channels lead us to the village of Rabo Curto, where the locals welcome us for lunch. We then descend through fields of sugar cane and yams. Transfer (15 min) to Vila das Pombas, Paul Valley.

We will begin our walk by exploring the lush Paul Valley, known for its green landscapes and sugar cane plantations. Along the way, you can enjoy the coolness of the streams and the shade of the fruit trees.

We will visit a local rum distillery, followed by a tasting. Then we will travel to Porto Novo, where we will take the ferry back to Sao Vicente.

Departure from the hotel at 10 a.m. to Pontão de Santa Maria, a former salt export port. Continue north along Ponta Preta beach to Baía da Murdeira, a protected area ideal for swimming and snorkelling. 

Visit Palmeira, with its traditional houses and fishing port. At 12:15 p.m., arrival at Buracona, with its famous Blue Eyes Cave and geological museum. 

Pass through Terra Boa to observe the ‘Fata Morgana’ mirage. At 3 p.m., visit Baía de Parda to see lemon sharks. Finally, stop at Pedra Lume to bathe in the salt waters of the ancient volcano. Return to the hotel in Santa Maria.
